Julie Tran is a 17-year-old high school senior at Stuart Hall School. She enjoys art because it’s the only class in which she can make a mess and not get scolded. In her opinion, art goes beyond the aesthetic–it is a tool to make statements. Her primary focus is on how words can have destructive effects on the human mind, and how humans, with our strength and endurance, can find a way to rise above them, to fight for our happiness.
